Romania motorway vignette fees

Since 1 October 2026, the usage fee depends on the vehicle category, the Euro class and the duration (Order MTI No. 888/2026). The fees below are in lei, VAT included.

Our service fee is added to the usage fee and shown separately before payment. If the Euro class cannot be proven, the vehicle is classed as Euro 0.

Vehicles subject to the fee

The vignette is required on Romania's national roads, including motorways and expressways. It is not required only on national-road sections inside cities with municipality (municipiu) status, between the entry and exit signs. Here you can buy it for passenger vehicles with up to 9 seats and goods vehicles up to 3.5 t.

The Euro class

The vignette has four price levels by Euro class: electric, Euro 6, Euro 4–5 and Euro 0–3. The cleaner the vehicle, the cheaper the vignette.

For Romanian registration numbers, the category and Euro class are filled in from the vehicle register. For registration numbers from other countries, you enter them yourself from the registration certificate (usually field V.9); for each country we show where to find the Euro class.

If the Euro class cannot be proven, the vehicle is classed as Euro 0 (Law 226/2023, Art. 6(3)). Electric vehicles without a Euro class are classified by the energy source in the registration certificate (field P.3).

Validity

The vignette is valid from 00:00 on the first day until 24:00 on the last day. If you choose today, it is valid from the moment the payment is registered. The 12-month vignette lasts until the day before the same date in the following year.

The vignette can be bought up to 30 days before its start date. If the vehicle already has a valid vignette, the new one can start at the earliest on the day after the existing one expires.

Electronic vignettes

The electronic vignette system is managed by the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR). The usage fees are set by Order MTI No. 888/2026.

How to buy a vignette

Choose the validity period: 10 days, 30 days, 60 days or 12 months.
Enter the registration number and country of registration. For Romanian registration numbers, the vehicle data are filled in automatically.
Choose the start date (up to 30 days in advance).
For a registration number from another country, enter the vehicle type and Euro class, then the VIN.
After payment, the system sends the confirmation by e-mail and, on request, by SMS.
